It reveals that state legislators are "the best-kept secret of our democracy," which is absolutely true. State capitals can be laboratories for democracy, or laboratories for atrocities, depending on who's in power.

Those laws were decided in state capitals. And that's also where a blue-majority WA decided to pass automatic voter registration, where VA decided to expand Medicaid & where CA passed the CA Values Act preventing local resources from being used to carry out mass deportations.
