Here too , easter is on sunday but something jesus related happend on a monday too, and we also have black friday ( not the sales day) wich is also off work , hence i have a 4 day weekend this week:) ( im not chatolic easter for me is this weekend)
Yeah it sounds similar to France and other European countries. 
I think the next French national holiday is not till May.

April 8th is Easter for us (non chatolics) and 1st of May is a holiday here (labour day)
Yeah there are a lot of Catholics in France.
