What is it about my sadist neighbours & their random power drilling on the wall?!
I mean really, what kind of construction needs random spams of drilling over years?
Luckily it's not early morning, or that I'm recording commentary, or there'd be some rapid banging back...

Maybe they're hanging pictures or putting together furniture like bookcases or dressers

That's far too sensible a suggestion considering the pain it has caused me over all this time...

Better than it being something creepy like them making secret rooms to conduct satanic rituals or kidnapping people

Strange thing is, I had never thought of those suggestions either!
Perhaps I should call the police, just in case! You see things like this in the news all the time.. "the neighbour thought something was suspicious but never reported it.." hahah!1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

I suggest recording the drilling sounds first so you have evidence of it
then the next time it starts, try following the sound to see which neighbor it is exactly. Then knock on the door and sheepishly ask if they have an egg you can borrow for cooking, just to see if -c-2 replies 0 retweets 1 like -

you can get a peek to see what they're doing. Make idle talk to keep them from being suspicious and see if they volunteer any information on what the sound. You might even feign a yawn, apologize, and explain that you're tired because a strange drilling sound keeps waking you up

It's sounds like a great plan. But I am an almost pure English speaker, living in France. There's only one English speaking neighbour... the rest are all pure French speakers. It complicates things, for sure. Ahh well, I hope to leave here as soon as I can...
