Great, so I managed to miss out on the Windows 8 offer. Not like I had forever to get it cheap, now stuck with Vista. #procrastination #fail

@Frimlin I know... what put me off is that I'd have to back-up a lot of files before upgrading. At least that's off my mind now.
@albertk_ Well you could. I didn't though. It saved my program settings and left my personal data untouched. Was smooth and painless.

@Frimlin Upgrading from Win 7 is smoother than from Vista, according to what I read. Glad your settings survived the transition, really. :-p -
@albertk_ Ahh okay, yes it was from Windows 7. Windows 8 seems to be essentially Windows 7 without the Start menu and with a Start screen.
