Yeah, a lot of rescue cats do as Rodney and just eats all their food. My 20 year old do that with wet food, but not the dry food, and that's why I can leave it out all the time.
Ahh ok. I wasn't his first owner, so I don't know how he started out. But that could be it, couldn't it! So mostly it comes down to me rationing what he eats. I struggled to do that with myself! So he can quite easily sway me to feed him.

Yeah, that could be the reason. It's difficult to not give them food when they ask for it. I have problems saying no too, but they have learned to not ask all the time
