Actually police didn't run away, they opened the gates for the mobs to stormed the Capitol building.
In India, millions staged peaceful, sit-in protests, speaking from the heart against the rise of religious nationalism. Police fired on them & joined a pogrom while elected leaders called to “shoot the traitors.” In US, white nationalists stormed the Capitol & police ran away.
