I think it's really sad that so much time is spent making tools are sacrificing authenticity and humanity, when there are other tools waiting to be made that would actually save us valuable time, without those drawbacks

once again - I think AIs should focus on automating the stuff where there's almost no creative degrees freedom, that people don't generally enjoy doing maybe make an AI that could clean up recordings, remove clicks, de-essing, EQ match recordings, and loudness balance instead?

got an email from a company wanting to collab. they said: "I am assuming as a personal brand, you are always trying to deeply & frequently connect with your viewers" they were making AI voiceover tech, which is *directly* counter to that goal to me

alright, what's a good online service for setting up a store page? I need: 1. payment processing 2. shipping addresses 3. email support to send updates 4. csv export to print shipping labels 5. limited item stock I started on , but they take 10% which seems kinda steep?

before I go to bed, in case you also want to solve this math problem - making a rounded-tip cone by finding: 1. radius r and 2. vertical coordinate y where it should switch from cone to sphere given full cone height H, cone base radius R, and tip-to-sphere distance S

v10 (4 first iterations) vs v11 (2nd last, tapered rotation arrow) vs v12 (deeper taper) this is showing the underside, which is the worst case! top side looks better on all of them I really like this, the arrow is subtle, but visible if you're looking for it

media is complex - no single movie or game is perfect in every single way, and people like different things at the same time, there are qualities most people do consider bad, and it's probably good to keep them in mind, and not always go "some people like it so it's good"

like, dark souls is bad in many ways, ways that would be almost universally better for most people if improved but at the same time it's also one of the most influential games ever for its other qualities

I haven't even played the game in <current discourse> but I'm already loving what I see for being unique in its approach, while also having bad voice recordings, which, is, yeah, bad, but that's also charming in its own way I'd take that any day over like AI generated voices

whenever "game bad" discourse happens there's quickly two camps forming, "game bad" vs "it's not bad, actually" but I think it's entirely possible that a thing is both bad and enjoyable, we should enjoy bad things more often!

managed to improve the bottom layer of the squares a little bit by tweaking the printing settings (right) I still don't like how stringy the arrow filling looks on this side though, and I don't have a lot of depth to make it slanted, and I don't want to make it a full hole. hmm

v10 verdict: colors look great!! squares fit better now new triangular rotation indicator works well new plastic struggles - bottom layers are, too sparse? I also got warping for the first time (on the blue square), and the seams are much more visible in general

v9 added a rotation arrow, which didn't really work out. it's too small to make out the details, I think I'd have to make it a hole, or a simpler square arrow they still socket tightly, so that's good! but, still going a little too deep

two big things left to fix 1. the square brackets should bottom out with the arrows at orthogonal angles - it's currently a bit off 2. I want positive rotation direction arrows on the brackets - but this means you have to be able to mirror them, which means more shallow sockets

like, even just subtracting a rotated box from a cylinder - how do you even begin to calculate and then represent that surface in code? there are so many edge cases and weird things that can happen and it just *does it* like it's no big deal

it's wild to me that rhino can handle boolean operations on parametric solids so well it's terrifying and really cool and it seems like such a challenge to code a tool that lets you do all this

idk what's a reasonable price for this, but I feel like I should come up with one soon. I'm not sure what to base it off of I guess I need to find some balance between making sure it's affordable but also not a complete loss on my end
