  10. Lum's fascination with Japanese & Chinese began early in her career. On her 1903 honeymoon in Japan, she searched for an artist to train her in the ukiyo-e technique. On later trips she learned to cut her own woodblocks and make her own prints.

  11. In 1912, Bertha Lum was the only woman artist to show her work at the Tokyo International Exhibition. Her work helped popularize the outside of Asia. "Kites" by Bertha Lum :
