Last night : how HK Police dealt with white clad gangsters (who were visibly holding weapons). This is the same police that had been aggressively checking belongings of protestors (including confiscating first aid supplies earlier in the day).

🚨🚨 Police have just charged at a throng of journalists during the clearance of the area surrounding the Liaison Office (China's central government offices in HK), for absolutely no reason. This isn't a police force, it's a group of thugs.

Thread: Another weekend, another protest in Hong Kong. The crowd here is waiting in the air-conditioned air of the Hysan Place shopping mall before stepping out into the summery furnace for the march. Again, private malls as enablers of public protest.

Protesters continue towards Admiralty. This was inevitable result of police insisting march end at Wanchai when they knew space available could not contain protesters. Smart strategy: means this is now technically unauthorized assembly & police can shut down at any time.
