        This is because of the govt's total lack of responsibility. Advice about this, please don't do that. While Europe locks down and TELLS people what to do. Stops them from going to the beach. People are thick and selfish. So protect us from ourselves, no?

        Yes. But. But. But. The mixed messages from No. 10 have facilitated this. Pubs "ought" to close. Johnson will (now won't) visit his mum. Etc etc etc. I think the "herd immunity" message sank in, and too many people haven't heard anything since.

        It’s all very well criticising people for flocking to the countryside/pubs etc or visiting their mums but the government messaging has been severely lacking in clarity. There should be a public information film running in every ad break/between every TV and radio programme...
