    The attacks this year on voting rights have put our democracy at grave risk. Revising the Senate filibuster rules is of paramount importance. Our timeline charts the filibuster from its inception in 1806 and shows how revising the rules has been routine.

    A D21 report out today details the Senate filibuster from its creation in 1806–a “housekeeping” mistake by Aaron Burr–to its prolific use blocking civil rights legislation, to its weaponization today as a purely partisan tool by Mitch McConnell.
