Right. You are certainly correct here. The contradiction is that no matter what we do the people lose. Either go back to work and expose yourself or stay at home and lose all financial security.

You could join progressives in demanding that our very prosperous and powerful nation provides its populace with the economic support we need to get through this necessary shutdown, since the alternative to that is economic devastation either way.

I know that the media can lie through omission but from what I’ve seen, the protesters look like Trump’s base of affluent retirees who want lots of people to die so that they can be pampered same as before the crisis.

They're talking about getting haircuts and going to vacation homes. The working class is either: working; or, trying to figure out how to eat & not be evicted after being laid off.

The government was desperate and shut-down in order to not overwhelm our healthcare system and flatten the curve of infection. They never had, and still don't have, an exit strategy. It's amazing how capitalism erodes so quickly. Fuck it. Let's try a feudal state.

Except we're also the ones who want to use this country's wealth to prevent those vulnerable people from experiencing that harm, rather than lining the pockets of the already wealthy. More people are going to lose money if we reopen than if we don't, and we can afford a UBI.
