Nearly 3 years since we lost our beloved Burly, we are so fortunate to rescue/adopt my newest best bud, an 83-pound, 10-month-old bundle of slobbering affection, Bentley. Spent his first 4 months riding in a Midwest semi, then 6 months in a Rhode Island apartment.

Sad & awful news. Fred Cranwell, my mentor & friend for so long, died Sunday after fighting brain cancer. Just a truly good guy. A journalistic genius of legendary kindness, Fred helped so many: he gave me one of my first jobs at the Hudson Dispatch in Union City NJ. RIP Fred

Beyond his obvious talents and abilities, Sekou Smith was first and foremost a truly great guy, simply a nice man who had time and a smile for everybody. Condolences and prayers to his family.

It's so hard to get my head around the horribly unfair loss of NYPost photog Anthony Causi. A wonderfully nice guy who made being nice seem so easy. Deepest condolences to his family. trib.al/1jN4vUs

I never really considered myself a writer, but I actually have a book coming out in May about my five decades with the @Mets. You can pre-order your copy now. atmlb.com/2HigSOH

27 years ago through the loss of Drazen Petrovic the #Nets community experienced the grief and pain so many feel from Kobe Bryant's tragic death. Some of those remember for

Came out of retirement Yesterday for One More Night to Help with St. John's/Providence. Game was hardly a Runaway and seemed like Every Little Thing went wrong for when they would Get Back in game. So they lost On the Road Again bit.ly/2QXiseg

New favorite sign on trip South to visit son & his wife: “Barber Shop and Car Detail.” Sorta one stop shopping

So think the #Knicks might dial up the #BrooklynNets and say ”Can we talk to Kenny Atkinson PULEEEZZE?”

They say u see something new every day. Visiting son/wife in Alabama, have seen the "Beef Jerky Outlet" (who needs that much jerky?); restaurant devoted to chicken fingers; car with South Carolina plate in back New York plate in front; TV commercial for best gun cabinets anywhere

The SI purge is sickening. Even these days they were doing stories no one else was. Will happily cancel a subscription I've had since 1963 when Willie Gallimore was on the cover, and I used to run to the mailbox and read it immediately. Best of luck to those left in the lurch

Oh Lord -- to be clear I was JOKING about the #Knicks and Charles Oakley thing. Although it would be a smart move...

In an attempt to make MSG the "Mecca" again in the wake of Suday's disaster and appease fans, the #Knicks are giving Charles Oakley a lifetime season ticket with courtside seats

Wouldn't it be a kick in the teeth for the #Knicks if Giannis signed with the #BrooklynNets in 2021? After Sunday, figure the Nets can find cap space for anyone, anytime

In an attempt to halt the momentum garnered by the #BrooklynNets free agency moves, the #Knicks intend to bring back Phil Jackson and the Triangle.

And every #BrooklynNets fan on the planet just grabbed a calendar to double check that it is not April 1

You do realize that by the end of the night, every #BrooklynNets fan will swear the Earth is flat. And they’ll insist Achilles was the starting power forward for the first ever game at Barclays Center

So is it safe to say that 2019’s group of signings will surpass 2010’s class of Travis Outlaw, Johan Petro, Anthony Morrow and Jordan Farmar in importance for the #Nets? Petro did average 3.5 points the next year after all

Can't stay away from Back in 2010, the #Knicks and #Nets were gonna get LeBron and Joe Johnson and Chris Bosh and...ooops. Didn't work out that way. Here's a look back. nyp.st/2JadJAU

Nine years ago, it was maybe the biggest free agency in NBA history -- LeBron, Wade, Bosh, Amar'e, Joe Johnson, etc. The #Knicks and #Nets were right in the middle of it. looks back at the craziness nyp.st/2JadJAU

Lost our buddy late Sunday. He gave us 15 years of unquestioned love and loyalty. To steal a phrase, I wish I could be half the man my dog thought I was.

Here is a depressing thought:
The #Mets might score more against their Philadelphia opponent tonight than the #BrooklynNets will score against theirs

So I think the next time #BrooklynNets score they should go for the two-point conversion, then try an on-sides kick

Great #BrooklynNets playoff moments No. 2 Game 4 East semis 2002 v #Hornets Jason Kidd banged heads w/David Wesley in G3 needed head stitched. Most thought he'd sit G4 Lucious Harris sed "He looked like he went 10 rounds with Mike Tyson" Kidd: 24 pts, 11 reb, 8 asst. Nets win

Great #BrooklynNets playoff moments: No. 1 2002 deciding Game 5 first round v #Pacers. #Nets win 120-109 in 2 OT. Greatest game I ever saw (beats Bird-Dominique '88 Game 7). Net Aaron Williams in lockerroom sez, "My the time we get home it will be on TV as an ESPN classic"
1
With #BrooklynNets facing #Sixers in playoffs we are reminded of 1984 1st round when Nets upset defending champs in 5 games. With road team winning EVERY game, Nets C Mike Gminski offered memorable line: "There's no place like away."

Just a hunch, but it won’t take a lot for the other 49 United States of America to rally around Wofford when it takes on Kentucky Saturday. #MarchMadness2019
