Boris Johnson is now comfortably ahead with working class voters, ahead in London, even ahead with the supposedly Tory-hating under-25s. Throw in a Brexit deal and it’s not a bad backdrop for a general election. My Telegraph column:https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2019/10/17/win-lose-weekend-boris-calls-election-now-unstoppable/ …

We needed the welfare state, a home fit for heroes etc I don't think Mr. Corbyn equates to Clem Atlee do you?

Elections are difficult to predict. We live in a free and democratic country. Most people do not think about politics. Then suddenly they do. Be prepared to be surprised.

In normal circumstances I'd agree but 3.5 years of inescapable Brexit has changed things. If Labour blocks this deal it will still be uppermost in the electorate's mind come the spring, not least because the Tories will ram it down their throats.

On the one hand I say keep taking your medication. On the other, agreeing with Churchill, I'd say that's why democracy is not always such a good thing. Just shouting "we'll win" should not make you a winner

Funny thing is I heard John Curtice on the radio (a professor of these things) say it will be a hung parliament.

The opposition won’t grant one .. yet, and as the detail emerges about this new “deal” That support will drain away.
