We have steadily lost a sense of relationships and connections with people. Technology is replacing a companionship with people and a mindset that we are all one body in this together for the rest of time. We'd now rather dismiss people unlike us instead of caring for them.

This is what the GOP wants.if your old, sick, special needs, poor, not white, getting government assistance, the GOP wants us to disappear, die off cause we are of no use to them unless we can pay taxes to support the rich & their need for more money

This is a kind and sensitive piece that deserves to be read widely. Most of us know or have family members who are elderly or disabled to one degree or another, and need help. Most of all they are entitled to their dignity and deserve our respect.

I’ve been a witness to this far to many times! My Louie who is 50 uses a small 3 wheeler when out and about. A lot of people don’t see her or acknowledge her either. Louie most always wants me to walk in front of her to clear a path! Sad!! For senior I’m sure it is worse!

Great column, it really struck a chord seeing my grand parents and parents age. I’ll be sure to think about this next time I see someone with a disability.
