Amazing work from et al elucidating how preparatory neural dynamics in motor cortex change when monkeys learn (and unlearn) new arm-movement kinetics!

How do animals withhold volitional actions that no longer lead to reward? 'D2-SPNs access and modify [suppress] developing behavioral programs encoded by regionally defined ensembles of transcriptionally active D1-SPNs' Fantastic work from in !

Distinct timescales of NA signalling trigger distinct 2nd-messenger pathways in astrocytes: brief NA release during startle responses evokes Ca2+ signals (synaptic facilitation?) whereas sustained NA release during high-vigilance states evokes cAMP signals (memory consolidation?)

Nice work looking at modulation of mouse motor thalamus (VL) by excitatory inputs from cerebellar nuclei and layer 6 of mouse motor cortex!

Time to abandon our cortex-centric view of motor control! Nice work from , and showing that spinal stretch reflexes are scaled to the hand's distance from the target, thus supporting efficient control of the hand during reaching!

Wow! Amazing collaboration between using serial section EM to build the largest connectivity matrix between L2/3 pyramidal neurons in mouse V1 and show that synaptic weights appear to be binary (contrary to most neural network models)!

Nothing better to enter Xmas mood than a (long awaited) paper combining mouse motor control, dynamical systems, thalamocortical loops, Neuropixels and computer vision by the awesome and ! Such an honour to have been part of this amazing team!

Great work by ! "We find that population activity in the (...) DG robustly discriminates small changes in environments, whereas spatial discrimination in CA1 reflects the behavioral performance of the animals and depends on the degree of differences between environments"

Awesome paper by suggesting place cell remapping reflects prior beliefs & arguing for optimal inference of spatial location in hipp circuits I wonder whether changes in belief state can be dissociated from changes in policy? Excited for her talk tmr at !

Amazing work by and on perceptual decision-making in larval zebrafish! Excited by the new mechanistic insights this tractable model system will bring to the study of what is classically a mammalian task! Also wonder what astrocytes might be doing? 🤔

Glad the paper is finally out! Heroic work from recording 30.000 neurons from the mouse brain using Neuropixels probes and showing the distributed networks encoding action initiation, choice and task engagement! 👏👏👏

scRNA-seq gives unbiased genetic profiling but no spatial information. FISH methods give spatial information but biased genetic profiling. pciSeq combines the best of both worlds: unbiased genetic profiling + spatial information! Great work by & !
