I can see both sides to the argument. Pros and cons to both. I prefer to be a homeowner myself. Some unexpected costs here and there but equity is a great thing.

Because it is cheaper to rent and gives you more flexibility I would think. I used to think buying a home was the way to go but then realized it's not. But it all depends on the person and the real estate. I'll take renting than buying

The process is worse than being interrogated by the CIA, you need more money than Fort Knox and, until recently, not losing your home if you've been laid off has been challenging. Not difficult to imagine why the reluctance.
