Good morning! I want to answer this question for everyone re: why I’m in #Dayton to film today’s community response to the KKK in town:
Covering these events isn’t about platforming the groups at center of them.

The reason to be in Dayton today, or Charlottesville on A12, or anything else is to understand the who, why and how. Why did this happen? Who was involved? If people got hurt, why? If not, what worked? How did the police act? Were they complicit? Were they the problem?
Ignoring these issues doesn’t make them go away. Documenting these situations as completely as possible serves purposes for people smarter than me. But to the issue of “spreading their message” no, I think the ideology of the KKK people today will be mostly an afterthought.

Maybe because their ideology is now being spoken and enacted from the White House, the DHS and the most popular cable channel in America and mass-killings by white supremacists are at an all-time high?
