All this is assuming the machine doesn't crash before then. Seems unlikely at this point, and I'm not going to tempt it by changing any shit at this point.

And PG&E better not fuck anything up by killing my power. I have two redundant UPSes but I can't run it on batteries for 48 hours straight.

I'd ask for donations so I could order a generator but I'm pretty sure it couldn't get here in time.

Here's a little video of how you have to deploy new code on a non-networked windows 95 machine

also you can tell from this that my VGA capture and webcam have different amounts of latency. The floppy disk light comes on before I click on it!

I had a worrying thought: What happen when the clock rolls over in my uptime program? does it crash? I don't want to accidentally crash the machine before the machine can crash itself! Good news: it just rolls over.

to accurately get the ticks since boot I'm supposed to switch to GetTickCount64() but that requires Vista, so... no.

there's also QueryUnbiasedInterruptTime which subtracts out any time spent in hibernation or sleep modes, but that requires win7.

I was just down in the garage and it's noticably warmer, and one of the servers is running fans higher. if we end up missing the crash because it's too hot... DAMN YOU CLIMATE CHANGE!

OK so 98°F/37°C isn't great for a system, it has been running for nearly 49 days straight. that's not disastrous. Hopefully this mini-heat-wave won't cause PG&E to start randomly turning off the power, like they love to do.

Stream is starting in a about an hour and 15 minutes. I did some more fiddling with the layout and added another camera, along with putting a box fan in the garage back door to help manage the heat.

so I'm working on editing some videos to show what happened, but the TL;DR is that at TIME ZERO it... didn't do anything. The win95 uptime app LOOPED and started counting up, and at 6 seconds it hung. The machine was frozen. The mouse moved, but I couldn't click on anything

I CTRL-ALT-DELETED and got the task manager popup, but couldn't close any programs. I ctrl-alt-deleted again, and the machine rebooted.

and here's the hang from my phone, with commentary on what I was trying to do at the time.

and the final moments as seen by the stream (ie, no hot mic, just MIDI)

once the stream was finished, I powered down the windows 95 machine. I think it has earned a rest. And so we're back to where this thread started!

anyway I'll put up a copy of the stream on archive .org in a bit, right now I gotta go rest my feet. Thanks for watching this silly, silly journey.
