Why is it that my brain goes into "100% must write mode" when I'm about to spend 45 minutes driving and then another hour at the dentist? It's just mean.

Also, if anyone has this VHS tape or any others by Alternative Inphormation, or other tapes related to phone phreaking like "How to Build a Red Box" (pictured below), I'd be interested in purchasing or borrowing them to do a high quality digital transfer.

I've written code for one of these and I still don't know which is which

It’s pretty simple: Google Meet (original) was previously Meet, which was the rebranded Hangouts Meet. Meet has been merged with Google Duo, which replaced Google Hangouts. Google Duo has been renamed Meet, and Meet has been temporarily named Google Meet (original), for clarity twitter.com/kane/status/15…

terrible idea: a daily planner which lays out what you need to be doing on an hourly basis, but instead of any standard interface, you have to schedule your activities like you're a character in a time management game

here's a good explanation for why it is this way:

I appreciate everyone speculating why when the answer is the game is Japanese so it's just cleaner than expecting (possibly kids) to know how to type the entire alphabet x2 in 1993.

so instead of the current method where the pixel offsets of where the text go have to shift around when you switch layouts, they'll just be done as separate steps, and then a final step just puts them together based on layout

I think I'm gonna redesign the death generator so that instead of having a simple idea of a single canvas on which images are blitted, you have an arbitrary number of them that can then be composited together.

oh god I think it's just because sometimes the portrait is on the left and sometimes it's on the right and handling both is annoying

I love when PC games are like "we need to have an on-screen keyboard! you know, in case the user doesn't... have... a keyboard?"

You might argue that it should be t4ttt so that it's four transes in total, but there's a simple explanation: My polycule is zero-indexed.

And do not call my bluff on this one. I have an ammonia-cooled punchcard duplicator, I will mod it into a punchcard printer and deliver a card stack.

The worst part about looking at job listings is finding companies you won't work for just because their name is too bad of a pun. I'm sorry, Fivetran. You may be doing great work, but no.

And duh. It's also the answer to my question. It's a MDA/CGA card, but one with VGA output!

i'm happy to announce the release of my latest project, the Graphics Gremlin! it is an 8-bit retro video card for ISA bus computers, and it emulates the MDA and CGA graphics cards. scan conversion is built in so it works with modern LCD monitors!😈 github.com/schlae/graphic

CGA/EGA/MDA all used digital DB9 connectors (all slightly different), whereas VGA used an analog DB15 connector, which lasted forever.

I wonder if anyone ever made a CGA card with a VGA port. There are EGA cards that can output to VGA or CGA/EGA ports, but I don't know if CGA-WITH-VGA-PORT ever existed

Witches bred cats to the same extremes that humans bred dogs. The smallest, little fairy hunters, could curl up in a teacup; others were the size of buses, great beasts of burden and war

It's always been a good strategy when a show or game has a bunch of little guys. Everybody loves a bunch of little guys.

Look I'm not saying I am going to make a game where a disgruntled panel show host has to go on a rampage against the minions of the BBC to find out why their show was canceled... I'm just saying if I did make it, it would obviously be called "Glock the Week"
