    Great paper. Love the concept of food system typologies that clarifies why food processing is important for all types. But what is vision for food systems transition & transformation? We need to describe future roadmap for types 6-8 by 2050 or 2100.

    Many countries and development partners include MDD in monitoring frameworks to track quality of diets among infants and young children. 👶🧒🍐🥕🍞🐟 Currently it is one of the only diet quality indicators consistently collected and reported across countries ⬇️

    Compared to the rest of the world, Nigerians eat more nuts, legumes; less red meat and processed meat. Vegetable intake increased a bit but still behind the rest of the world. Culture plays huge role in these outcomes, however, the question of nutrition is a global concern.

    Food consumption patterns in Ethiopia are also a lot less intensive in greenhouse gas emissions than most, associated with about half the level of emissions per capita as the US and 1/9 the level of Australia. (6/6)

    Practitioners struggle to differentiate between a food value chain approach with a food systems approach. Complex food systems problems cannot be solved through linear solutions and single point interventions don't capture the trade-offs.
