The biggest lean muscle loss was in the arms (-6%). However, because the male baseline is so much higher than that for females in this region, transwomen, after one year of hormones, still have 28% more lean muscle compared with females. 3/

Legs retain 19% more lean muscle mass compared with females. Fat acquisition here is high (+42%), but because males are so much thinner than the female baseline in this region, they still carry only 85% of female fat levels. 4/

I'll continue to study this, but interim calculations are that after one year of hormone treatment, in all body regions tested (DEXA), transwomen remain thinner than females (5-15% thinner), and retain lean muscle mass compared with females (13-28% higher).

Physical activity levels of the cohorts not recorded - I checked as this could be crucial. I suspect they are probably average. Starting BMIs were within normal range but high side. They would have noted if any athletic/extreme activity was undertaken, as it would skew data.
