when I was a child I had a book with walkthroughs for computer games, which I sometimes read in the evening like a science fiction... cause I did not have a computer or those games.

New video: Rust 1.41 patch review! Went over everything new in 1.41, including the orphan rule changes, all in magnificent 320p high-resolution video. (Promise next video will *actually* be in a decent resolution, lmao)

WebAssembly brings SIMD support to the Web. What is it? and explain and demonstrate how to use it to run native code on the Web even faster! 🔥 (This feature is currently experimental and available under a flag.)

I've been trying to figure out why the main menu performance on Warcraft 3 Reforged is so bad. It ends up the whole main menu is a web app running on Chrome. This thing runs worse than the actual game (likely because it's pegging an entire core of my CPU.)

Here we go again (c) Another security hole, based on speculative optimizations + caching. P.S. Didn’t read the paper though, just a landing page, so know no details about it.

For a while I've been thinking: "Wouldn't it be great if our code editors were a bit more proactive and smart?" 🤔 So dusted off my Splash-based Swift editor prototype and built a feature that automatically generates models based on how they're being used. What do you think? 😀

Interesting performance advice in the world of non-free GC write barriers: avoid unconditional overwrite of the field if it expected to have the same value in >99% of cases. Adding a branch may noticeably improve the performance.

14/ Let’s pretend the 3.8 estimate is too high (there’s unpublished estimates of 2.5). even if this virus’s R0=2.5, that’s still 2x higher than seasonal flu’s 1.28 (ref above), and higher than 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic of 1.80 that killed millions. So 2.8 is still super bad folks
