And teacher pay is low because the teaching is substandard. It’s a Catch 22 that really amounts to the public school industry having low market value in a world where Youtube, Kahn Academy, and Wikipedia exist at the tips of everyone’s fingers.
Agree, and have little/no fear for my kids, yours, or those who I cherish in my collective tribe. I also grew up around a lot of dirt poor rednecks, and my fair share of post-gentrified urban families. The market forced solution will WORK, but it may also be a great filtering.

Definitely a filter. Mistakes will have consequences again. “The code of competence is the only system of morality that is on a gold standard.” Rand

As sound theorist, which I believe we both are, to what extent is loss tolerable in a great filter scenario? 1% loss? 10? 25? 50? I have not reconciled my views here, am not sure where I stand. Self preservation, I'm sure I'll be .01% & fine. I worry for my peers.

This isn’t a decision that is up to us to make. This is a decision that Mother Nature will make using the processes of the market (a natural force comprised of all human interactions with each other and their environment).

I know and love a lot of people who would be totally incompetent to raise children without government mandated support/education. I'm not saying this as a favor of gov subs, just a black pill reality check on how adrift much of the consumer/citizen base is.

Sadly they will watch their children suffer for their negligence. Life with consequences is hard. An apathetic life in a world without safety nets is harder than a life of conviction and caring.
