And teacher pay is low because the teaching is substandard. It’s a Catch 22 that really amounts to the public school industry having low market value in a world where Youtube, Kahn Academy, and Wikipedia exist at the tips of everyone’s fingers.
Goes back to my previous thought, maybe Gov funded education should just be about organizing/mandating kids into a space for learning, and the content is decided by a more amorphous/dynamic/decentralized? market oriented process.

The government won’t give up their power over creating perfect debt slaves through brainwashing curriculum. And it isn’t even as nefarious as that. No politician has the balls to take a chance and risk re-election on new forms education. That decision will be made for them.
