And teacher pay is low because the teaching is substandard. It’s a Catch 22 that really amounts to the public school industry having low market value in a world where Youtube, Kahn Academy, and Wikipedia exist at the tips of everyone’s fingers.

I’d argue that spending that public school time finding heroes online to emulate and eventually contact will do more for you than any relationship with a governmentally mandated learning officer ever would.

I agree, my hard pilled self truth is I don't know that I would have the social/logically skills to find the people/ideas currently in my network without influence from public school figures. And I had a GOOD dad.

Kids who were born with the modern internet have never known a world where potential contact with their heroes was impossible. To them any famous Youtuber could read their comment or answer their DM. That wasn’t an option for us as kids. That’s how you find those mentors now.
