Probably an older Asian male, a la Dorian Nakamoto. A shame given the little evidence points more towards someone of commonwealth origin.https://twitter.com/santisiri/status/975574061337202689 …

So what may be a better guess? in 2013 Skye Grey implicated
@NickSzabo4 based on stylometric analysis and his history with Bit Gold. The cryptography community was small, so verbage overlap is likely. I'm skeptical of this prediction.https://likeinamirror.wordpress.com/2013/12/01/satoshi-nakamoto-is-probably-nick-szabo/ …Show this thread -
My personal favorite is Hal Finney. A cryptography pioneer and the first to run and report errors on bitcoin (Aside from SN). Interestingly, he lived a few blocks away from Dorian Nakamoto's family home. Could have used his name as a cover.https://twitter.com/halfin/status/1110302988 …

The most controversial identity claim is in Craig S Wright. Following a Wired article identifying him in 2015, and a subsequent raid by the AFP, rumors began rooting that SN was actually a collective of CSW and a partner, David Kleiman (died 2013). Story doesn't end there though.

In 2016 Wright blogged confirming the rumors. The same day, the BBC and The Economist released articles claiming to witness cryptographic proof of messages signed with the private key associated with the first transaction.

In the recorded BBC interview, Wright said "Some people will believe, some people won't, and to tell you the truth, I don't really care. (...) I didn't decide [to reveal my identity now]. People decided this matter for me."

BTC Devs
@peterktodd &@JeffGarzik refuted there was no valid cryptographic evidence. Later, Wright posted about his intentions to layout foundations to prove his claim. The following day he deleted his posts, replacing them with an apology citing lack of courage to come forward.Show this thread -

Final fun fact for now, last month the Estate of David Kleiman brought a suit against CSW for the sum of 10bn$, alleging Wright had misappropriated bitcoin they had mined together.https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/4388885-Wright-Kleiman-Lawsuit.html …
