Here is a link to a new paper on Sustainable Flood Memories: how digital storytelling allowed personal stories to travel beyond flood-affected areas in the Severn catchment, increasing flood resilience elsewhere in the UK

Many of our most sustainable building materials and methods are traditional knowledge, exemplified in our cultural heritage around the world. In England research has shown traditional materials are also often the most resilient to flooding & reduce overheating

Some important water-names here & plenty of other environmental info. Place-names hold a vast reservoir of Traditional Ecological Knowledge & indigenous wisdom. If we all made time to relearn their meanings, our world would immediately become a richer & more sustainable place.

We need to plant more trees to slow the flow. So why don’t we take our cue from river-names. Let’s make our Derwents and Darts oak-rivers once more; plant ash along our Ashbournes and elms along the Leam. Let’s build flood resilience and celebrate our environmental heritage too.

Our local river keeps on flooding, resulting in a number of what I've started to call 'river roses' being left along its banks. (Dead leaves wrapped around a stalk by the force of the water.) But I wonder if has a better word for such things?
