All Ontario students should attend safe, well-maintained public schools that are funded as a critical part of our society's infrastructure.

There are likely more. School repair backlogs started FIVE governments ago... how long will students wait?

  5. Adequate & stable funding is needed for school boards to have a realistic chance of eliminating the $16.3-billion repair backlog in Ontario’s schools within 7-8 years.

  6. School boards should be able to forward plan & operate in the most effective & efficient manner, they need to know their funding from year to year and be able to count on that funding. Adequate & stable funding from the province.

+$1.6-billion/year in provincial funding is needed for school boards to have a chance of eliminating the $16.3-billion repair backlog in Ontario’s schools in 7-8 years. We need adequate & stable funding from the province.

What really hurts kids? We believe it is the chronic and gross provincial underfunding of our education system and schools that has gone for over two decades. All photos taken at publicly-funded schools.

Come tell our students in Ontario that you’d rather support initiatives to make alcohol more widely available than to ensure that the leaky ceilings and rusted pipes in schools are repaired. 4/

I don’t have kids. Why should I care about school conditions? Your grandparents & parents paid for these buildings: valuable assets owned by taxpayers. Taxes are wasted with emergency repairs vs cost-effective proactive repairs. Boards need stable, adequate provincial funding.

How can we pay for infrastructure upgrades? Corporate taxes: Canadian bankers have 'bleak' bonuses totally $15.6 BILLION last year. Enough to repair most schools 🏫🏫 across Ontario... from north to south, east to west. via

The provincial govt holds school boards completely responsible for the $16.3-billion of disrepair that has accrued in publicly funded school boards over the last 2 decades. We need adequate and stable funding from the province.

I agree, the exposure to toxins that expose kids to carcinogens that could affect them the rest of their lives and our government is taking a hands off approach.

Imagine if you were given $10 and were expected to feed a family of 4 for a week, that's akin to the provincial funding dynamic for public schools. We need Adequate and Stable Funding From the Province.

Kids are an indicator species for a great neighbourhood. If you design your downtown deliberately for kids, families will come! —

"A good chunk of the [budget] increase this year won’t go to schools — it’s for a new child-care tax credit that is included in the education budget."

For over 20 yrs ’s provincial govt only provided a fraction of the $1.4-billion/year that was required for school boards to be able to properly maintain their school buildings. We need adquate & stable funding.

Fix Our Schools took advantage of the opportunity to submit its feedback directly to the Ministry of Education in order to echo what we had presented to the Committee of Finance and Economic Affairs earlier in the month.

The Ministry of Ed asked for funding feedback. One of Fix Our Schools recommendations was to consider that reactive repairs waste taxpayer money & to increase funding by $1.6-billion/year to eliminate accumulated disrepair in Ontario’s publicly funded schools...
