What an awesome day I had yesterday! I had the privilege to meet Julie Boit, a nurse practitioner, who lives in Kenya and has created a community of compassion. We visited the Batson's Children Hospital and the Kids Kastle in Canton, a beautiful facility.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of welcoming the attendees to the 3rd Annual MS Suicide Prevention Symposium which was held at the Jackson Marriott. We can fight suicide by Shattering the Silence because Suicide is the secret you shouldn't keep.

Yesterday I had the awesome privilege to tour and read to the children at Personal Pediatric Care – A Day Health Center for Medically Fragile children in McComb, MS. You ALL have a special place in my heart and prayers.

I was honored to FINALLY host the Garden Club ladies for lunch today as a thank you to them for the work they have done with the beautiful cutting garden at the Mansion and for their generous contributions throughout the years to the Mansion Foundation Landscape Fund.

Recently, I got the opportunity to visit with some of our precious veterans at Jackson Veterans Home. It was an added pleasure to see Stacey Pickering, former State Auditor, now Head of MS Veterans Affairs Board.

Today was an extremely fun day to be First Lady of Mississippi. I got to ride in a COBRA as part of the Run for the Wall festivities. Phil and I cherish being a part of this special recognition for our veterans every year. We can never thank our veterans enough.

It was totally worth waiting to greet Kyle Petty's Charity Ride at the Love's Travel Stop in Magee. His father, Richard Petty, and football superstar, Herschel Walker, were also there. The Kyle Petty Charity Ride has been benefiting Victory Junction for 25 years.

It was an honor to be a part of the Project SEARCH ceremony at New Summit School. Eight students will be learning how to transition from school to the workplace at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center through an internship program their senior year.

I just learned about another incredible event for disabled individuals - Horses for Handicapped Mississippi. Participants from over 30 counties, 90 schools, development centers, and regional centers come out for a day of horseback riding, wagon rides, and a petting zoo.

I always look forward to receiving the annual MS Egg Marketing Board's hand-painted eggs for Easter. This is the third year Seedsters have provided seven beautifully painted eggs.

Phil and I were incredibly honored to host the Zeta Mississippi Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Key Women Educators. This group of ladies have not only committed their lives to educating our children, but also to promoting the profession of teaching.

I toured the preschool at Willowood Development Center and all I can say is, "WOW!" The love, care, and education children receive here is second to none. Thanks to Mr. Kenny Scianna and Mr. Curt Alford for the invitation.

OMG! I had so much fun at Touch-A-Truck this morning. First, I got read one of my favorite books ("The Day the Crayons Quit") to a group of bright and precious children. Then I got to check out the TRUCKS! If you haven't made plans to go tomorrow, it's a MUST!

Last year, Katie and I spoke to the Highland Elementary Girls With a Purpose group. I am so excited they were able to tour the Mississippi Governor's Mansion. These young ladies are learning how they can be a part of the positive story we have to tell the rest of the nation.

I had the honor and privilege of being a part of the American Cancer Society's ribbon cutting at the Gertrude C. Ford Hope Lodge this morning. I thank everyone who helped build this place of comfort and hope.

We had the pleasure of hosting the second Mississippi National Guard Tea this Saturday. The children (and adults) looked so precious in their hats, gloves and pretty dresses. Everyone loved the delicious treats. I hope this tradition will continue for many more years.
