Watching Star Wars... hearing Obi-Wan say "I don't remember owning a droid before" is now kinda painful. He's either senile as f%$# or the biggest liar in the universe. I think the latter.
Or perhaps those scripts were composed with only very general reference to the content of the original films as well as almost totally obliviousness to thematic content. To put it another way: they are not the same characters
