Much to the frusteration of so many, @chesaboudin does not want the status quo of this racist drug war and countrerproductive police state to persist. He knows and emphasizes that, the drug war has failed and public health must take ownership over the crisis.

But his plan isn’t working & the consequences are more OD deaths, more violent crime & citizens traumatized.

I don't think anyone including the brilliant @chesaboudin planned for the pandemic in advance and in response to demands from our @HouseJudiciary and especially minimized the usage of mass incarceration in this moment of pandemic. I am thankful for the lives that decision saved.

Are you forgetting about the overdose deaths at the homeless hotels? These drugs are literally KILLING people.

There were 16 suicide and/or overdose deaths in the 6 months within ~2,000 vulnerable elderly homeless ppl sheltered in the SF hotels. Homeless status seems to be the leading solution to mental health and war on drugs crisis. So the # is relatively low.

1 suicide and 15 overdose deaths. Just to be clear. Statistically that's low. But using that same argument, 200,000 COVID19 deaths among 400 million is also statistically low. We can't have it both ways.

Omg, I realized that I was confusing overdoses with overdose deaths- duh! That is why my numbers were so off. 🙄 Thank you for clarifying and I’m relieved that the number of deaths are not in the hundreds but of course everyone matters.

Thanks for the link. Short & to the point. 54% of the deaths in 2019 were from Fentanyl! I would like to know how other drugs measure here, also for 2018. As there is an antidote to the Poison we should aim for all Opiate users to register & carry Narkan.

The rise in overdose deaths is due to the Supply Sources, which have been producing deadlier Fentanyl. Without the Progressives' Harm Reduction policies the death toll would probably be triple the current number.
