This comes as on 9/16/20 U.S Attorney General William Barr informed federal prosecutors to charge protestors, who he referred to as “rioters”, with sedition, an attempt to overthrow the government. This brings to question that the U.S has domestic political prisoners even today.

Further this brings up the fact that Julian
#Assange’s trial is even more important in setting precedents for those questioning the police, military & intelligence state. If U.S is already charging Assange with conspiracy to commit “hacking” when he was simply being a journalist,1 réponse 15 Retweets 35 j'aimeAfficher cette discussion -
then truly what’s stoping them from charging peaceful protestors with felonies & throwing hefty sentences? The First Amendment applies in both cases. By going after Assange the U.S government has free range to go after other journalists (as we’ve already seen) & protestors.

I’ll add that protestors arrested were arrested via raids, one in a Home Depot, one while driving her car, & another had SWAT sent to their home. This is reminiscent of tactics used in Portland, NYC with unmarked vehicles & no warrants. Protestors demand a drop of all charges.

I think off-site raids are actually a better way to do arrests than in the midst of a riot - safer for all involved! SWAT may have been a bit excessive, but it's not at all unusual for arrests/warrants these days.

What crime have these people committed other than protesting? How does this NOT worry you if you care about civil liberties & #Assange? It’s all connected. You can’t cherry pick.
