So Pasta and I are having a debate. Duhhh. Co-host differences. Apparently I’m more anti-interventionist but it’s nuanced
. But here’s the question: “The U.S shouldn’t intervene, even to prevent genocide & help spread democracy.”

We need to focus on giving organizations like the UN the proper tools to help out in situations like Rwanda, without becoming a political tool of the US or any other super power. Ideally the world would not have any super powers at all.

The question has to answered never, because the US and Britain only intervene when there is a direct impact on their ruling class interests. So until we get rid of capitalism we cannot approve of government foreign interventions as they only at in their class interests.

This is the problem - of course nations should intervene to stop an actual genocide. But the US and Europe intervene and make situations much worse than they would have been in the first place. So it's a bad question, because it depends on the existence of an imaginary reality.

In order to vote, I couldn't consider the US that I know, but the US that I wish for. The US we have would probably look to set up McDonalds and Exxons or else they'd try to sell the genociders the munitions to complete their operations.

We do more harm than good because the intentions of our government are bad/bigoted/self-serving & most importantly, never involves diplomacy, just brute force. Until that changes, no intervention.
