We shouldn’t have statues of ANY people AT ALL. We shouldn’t elevate anyone to reverence. People are not deities. The fanatism & hero-worship culture has hurt our movement & our country. It’s how we get religious fanatics, egos & celebrity worship.

I disagree for two reasons. 1) Some people, even if not perfect, are sufficiently honest and improved human life significantly enough to have statues of them that examplify what is the closest to virtue.

2) Statues of historical figures are an integral part of art and and patrimony. Of course, we must question their place in public places when they promote hateful values, yet we mustn't destroy them. They are main pieces of study to understand history.
