Here’s where I might lose my more independent followers. I don’t believe billionaires should exist. Period. To specify, I don’t think they can exist in a fair system. Inherently wealth makes humans more greedy & out of touch. But a BILLION is a lot of money. More than you need..

One billion $= 15,800 years of US median usually more than 2 earner household income. Lose 99%? Woe to you! Left with only $10 Million! What's a multiple mansion, huge yacht and private jetliner owner to do? Fraudulent/legal tax write-offs alone can't cover taxes and maintenance.

Without government subsidizing and protecting certain industries I think billionaires would be extremely rare, but if they exist, it's our fault as consumers, for better or worse. We may only want one refrigerator company. If they make good stuff and pay employees well, awesome.

Good luck getting a reply to that. Berners have a blind spot on that point or maybe just think everyone's too stupid to understand them if the nanny state's pros and cons are honestly discussed. Also, rich people & their money are evil, but they sure want a slice of the evil.

As the great populist Teddy Roosevelt said, to save capitalism, we must prune it. To protect free enterprise, we must set fair rules...rules everyone plays by.

Capitalism is just direct Democracy... People often vote for awful things. I don't think a billionaire could exist in a capitalist society. I think they're created by low interest loans from the fed, absurd extensions on intellectual property, and laws that fight competition...
