For the record, I am not for abolishing the electoral college and letting the popular vote determine the outcome of the election. Trump won in large part because ppl had felt unrepresented by the establishment. Imagine how they will react u basically erase their vote.

Nah. That only works in a system where we don’t have the illusion of choice. Neoliberals push for popular vote in our current system rather than ranked choice because there are more registered Dems than republicans despite republicans having control of more states.
-
Then we work to not have that system. I also think rank choice voting would help. Ultimately we are a country that is a coalition of little independent states. That’s why we have this issue. An electoral college type of system only exacerbated that situation.

The only way a popular vote could act as a fair representation of the entire country is if there was a true multi party system, which we don’t have
-
I disagree, and even if that were the case, why forfeit one thing for another, that seems like a compromise that doesn't need to be made. Can't we just demand both of those things simultaneously along with transparency/accountability throughout the process as it adapts?

What do people think of making the electoral college be proportional in each state instead of winner take all? I dont think I've ever heard much at all about that
-
I think proportions are a good temporary solution.
