EU uses PR to elect MEPs. MEPs are virtually powerless. They can't initiate or amend legislation. The unelected commissioners have the power

MEPs have to power to approve, reject or amend nearly all legislation but I know UKIP like to be disingenuous.

Main parties won't go for this as they're relying on tactical voting E.g. UKIP voters going tory this time. UKIP vote won't be high on 8/6
