I'm a headteacher. My head of music had recently released an album of his own music. It's not my cup of tea but I keep it on repeat on Spotify because I love that he hasn't given up on his dreams.
One of the most Fukt things about this kind of argument is that it assumes all non-white, non-male people only get their jobs/ positions/ opportunities thanks to ‘woke’ tokenism and not because they fking well deserve them because they’re good at what they do
Every commentator saying that breaking the stage 3 tax cut promise would be politically disastrous ignores the fact that Hawke broke a tax cut promise & Abbott broke a TONNE of promises. People understand when bad policy needs to be ditched & Labor has HEAPS of political capital
If you didn’t see this last night this is worth your time today. I’ve never seen this issue so perfectly articulated.
You’re not oppressed because you no longer enjoy unquestioned authority.
And the argument that “ooh but Newscorp will destroy them” is clearly disprovable by the fact that Newscorp tried darndest to destroy Labor (who, let’s be honest, had a shit campaign) in the election and failed comprehensively.

The disgust comes both at the intellectual slackness and inherent dishonesty of the both sides approach. Arguing that there are "different realities" is the antithesis of making an objective effort to support the truth.
my current energy bill for my tiny 22 cover restaurant is £2,928 a year. This is my new quote. Unsure what to actually do next but as a business that cost would now be more than I pay in rent and more than I take some months. I simply don’t have the money for this.
Forcing Australians to live on $40 a day is a disgrace. That’s what Labor moved amendments to permanently increase JobSeeker. The govt voted against them. No empathy or care from this lot. #raisetherate
After learning today that Trump had 43 EMPTY folders in his office that should have contained classified documents, the FBI and DHS are now searching, and seizing boxes from, the NY and FLA properties of Russian oligarch Victor Vekselberg. Coincidence?
Because white men have always occupied the centre, some seem to think if they can't have an opinion on everything, this is some kind of oppression. It isn't. There was always other centres, other lives, others opinions in which you were irrelevant (as I am in others matters).
I can tell you as a woman from a minority group that it has never occurred to be, nor do I think it necessary, that I must be heard on everything. It seem entirely appropriate to be told, by those closer to the issue, to shut up and move on.
I think these people are not angry because they are silenced/cancelled. Factually, they are not - they dominate Australia media. They are mad because more people don't take their views as automatically relevant or important. They no longer enjoy the privilege of assumed authority
The #Knox grammar news is yet more in a long line of evidence that illustrates the nonsense/classist logic of framing boys from poor suburbs as ‘the problem’. The issue is up and down the socioeconomic spectrum, but the ‘elite’ boys take these attitudes into positions of power.
My latest book Stellarphant includes a timeline of the True History of Animals in Space ⭐🐘🚀
I've written some in-depth articles to explain the extraordinary stories of these animals.

If the prime minister is too afraid to actually lead and public sentiment is necessary for the right thing to happen then all the labor faithful should be doing Albo a favour and raising hell about it.
The fourth alternative is that public sentiment which is largely against the cuts will allow Labor to legislate against the cuts. First step might be to delay cuts in October for budgetary reasons. Albanese has left some wriggle room in his language

Thousands of people already living in Australia are being held back by punitive visa restrictions that make it harder to train, find a job or plan for the future. Time to give people some stability.
Providing people seeking asylum in Australia the right to work, study and rebuild their lives is a clear way to address the issues currently being discussed at the #JobsSummit.

I still don’t think people understand what it means for 33 million people to be displaced. That’s 6 times more people than those internally displaced in Ukraine from war, that’s roughly 90% of the population of Canada.
That’s how many people are internally homeless right now
My gynaecologist telling me about his visit to MONA and viewing the c**t wall, diagnosing as he went. “That looks like lichen schlerosis, she should get that checked out”
No doubt all those #knoxgrammar kids in the group chat were watching and learning when Judge Robert Sutherland didn’t convict a Knox old boy for punching a woman in the face lest it have a lasting impact on his life. Privilege at work.
A Knox Grammar graduate who drunkenly called a woman a slut and punched her in the face after she confronted him has had his convictions erased. His mother told the court he was a "shattered boy"

The fact that so many progressives will fall in behind a plan to intensify the commodification of nature because it's presented by a smooth and sophisticated neoliberal rather than by Morrison fills me with utter despair
Our hospitals are full. Essential surgeries are cancelled to make space for overflowing emergency departments. Years of underfunding have meant hospitals cannot grow to meet demand. We need permanent, fair, 50-50 funding to help clear the hospital logjam. http://hospitallogjam.com.au
