We will discontinue using Belarus airspace until further notice. Our next affected flight is Gazipasa next Wednesday. According to Traficom’s recommendation, this route will avoid Belarus airspace. The change will make flight time a bit longer.

But was it? The EU has closed the Belorussian airspace. We don’t know from a Finnair post made only a few minutes ago whether the Traficom recommendation (and following Finnair decision) came after or before the EU decision.

Well done Finnair. The actions of the other day were borderline air piracy, if the safety of flight and passengers cannot be assured then that airspace must be avoided.

Bad corporate policy to hurt the brand's image by first deciding to continue using Belarus airspace and then look like Finnair only changed its decision because most competitors were more farsighted and more responsible members of the global community.
