In any event, this case was not "turned down." This was an appellate court issuing a published opinion in the case. The decision of the district court was appealed, argued, and decided by the 5th Circuit.

I am, though. “Turning down” a case in an appellate court is, in fact, the same as upholding the decision below, which itself upheld the law. This is not working for you.

That’s a court upholding the specific Texas law in question. You sent me a link to the Gun Control Act of 1968, telling me that the Texas statute of 2015 was “outdated.” I suspect you do not know what you are doing.

In short, a message to state party chairs: FUND YOUR INTERNAL DEMOCRATIC PROCESSES. The investment is worth it in the long run.

And then you get 22-year-old hotheads who don't know better accusing 75-year-old democracy club vols of being in it for the corrupt cash & other silliness. Amplified by twitter/podcast shock jerks who do know better, spreading the same stuff to build a brand off the gullible. /7

And now everyone who doesn't know how shoestring this stuff is thinks there's a conspiracy, because they think of the Party as a billion-dollar pseudo-corporate machine, so how could this happen? They don't understand this is all done super cheap on the backs of vol retirees./6

There's a whole long conversation about balancing national and state resources--remember Dean vs Emanuel? But the states really need to spend more resources on internal processes if we want to build trust and engage new/young activists. The IA Dem Party clearly scrimped. /5

The other problem is that the average observer has no idea the difference between national, state and county party organizations. People mouth off about the "DNC" as if the party were like Coca-Cola and everything was managed from corporate HQ in DC, which is laughably wrong. /4

It's doubly problematic when you have folks like Steyer and Bloomberg dumping hundreds of millions, and when the party takes corporate PAC money. Why shouldn't they have money?? The answer is the money isn't fungible. Too much in some pools not enough in others. BUT.../3

The problem is that if the parties are going to be telling outsider activists to join and engage with and fundraise for the Party, then the internal processes become all that much more crucial. If for no other reason than building trust. /2

Generally speaking, state parties underinvest in resources for internal election processes, setting more aside for actually winning elections. This is a constant sore spot for outsider activists who think the incompetencies of underfunded volunteer processes are a conspiracy. /1

Fun thing to think about is that the Iowa caucus results have never been consistent and everyone just let them keep doing it anyway.
