Like the situation is really bad, y'all. I remember I was talking to someone about the basics of tension and how to make the audience think X was going to happen before Y came in and surprised them, and they just had no idea what I was even talking about it.

I'm assuming control the atmosphere of the shot. In the same way you can't teach the costume department to be a director, surely the VFX department need to be wrangled too.

Yeah but costume departments understand what they're jobs are and are great at them. They're not doing the cinematography of the wardrobes.
