They were like "but the shot of the thing looks cool like this." Looks cool. Looks cool. All I ever hear is looks cool. They have no idea what they're even after beyond posturing coolness. It's an epidemic.

And please please do not think this is a knock on VFX artists, who are the most over-worked and systematically abused general workforce in the film industry. They're incredible. This is only a crisis of philosophy and purpose.
