Just seemed a bit odd so I asked. Your article is interesting but I think Marvel has a different vision of their movies and so far it seems the public is buying it. In the comics for example, characters don't die permanently but does that lessen their popularity?

It's not so much about popularity as having actual narrative weight and consequences so these stories can be something more and convey some actual meaning rather than just thrill and spectacle.

Marvel's formula is working. What has to be appreciated is how astounding it is that almost all their movies have done well at the box office and been appreciated by critics. That's staggering. Rival studios can't compare. Marvel is redefining filmmaking.
