Well, we only have his word for it. Gamora only focuses on the deaths, doesnt seem to consider the results in any form. And hes clearly so mad with it that hell murder half a small ship of refugees just to make sure he doesnt miss any.

It also occurred to me the phrasing was odd. If he killed half of the "life" in the universe, then he killed half the animals and plant life, etc. He might have destroyed half the biome on every planet. That is non-recoverable.

oh yeah, that's the first thing I thought of. And trashing social/intellectual infrastructure, thus probably kicking all humans back to subsistence agriculture, would commit us to that population growth rather than the stable population of developed economies.
