I'm really kind of flabbergasted by this "counterpoint." Did you read the article? I make the exact same argument that that's why the tension in the film works and then point out why "the reality of death and change" is a complete half-hearted ruse.

Whatever else 4 may be, it will be a completely different future than what has come before. It has to be, because they cannot be stagnant like comics. The job of Avengers 4 is for us to care for the new as the old, while saying goodbye. It isn’t a ruse sir, it’s a transition.
