My first piece for @ObserverArts and it's a doozy. A deep dive into Infinity Wars, the MCU, and what these movies are *really* about...http://observer.com/2018/04/avengers-infinity-war-movie-and-marvels-endless-endgame/ …

That makes a lot of sense. I think tho some of that depends on how people choose to have the conversation, and the blunt impact of the moment. I don’t know if a kid can shake Peter pleading for his life as ‘not real’? It raises the possibility at least, tho ultimately reassuring

Also I feel terrible having this convo cos I haven’t read your piece yet but I am super super excited to, I will later today :)

My niece has been to multiple funerals. She’s growing up in a relgious household. She already believes no one ever *really* dies.... That didn’t seem to make it easier to swallow as she was bawling at the end....I knew they couldn’t keep SpiderMan dead...but still affected me...

I’m like...“what if *I* die before this gets resolved!?”

I hear that. But I wonder if the MCU CAN do this. Comics as a medium aren’t interested in death—they’re interested in the fantasy of overcoming it. As a film franchise that’s beholden to its source medium, the MCU is just putting that on screen.

So I think the point about death is salient, but it’s a larger issue with comics/superheroes/their derivative films as a whole.
