I think HULK here gets at what I’ve been thinking: it’s no coincidence that my interest in reading comics started to wane just as the early 90s rush for HUGE CROSSOVER EVENTS started to pop up. It was chasing a money making trend first, story second.https://twitter.com/filmcrithulk/status/991066656339193856 …

I sincerely hope Avengers 4 will be the last of its kind for a while because, like social media, stories that chase scale like this are simply unsustainable. The comics industry itself imploded in 1993 in part due to flooding the market (along with poor distribution tactics)

And here it is:
@FilmCritHULK saying EXACTLY what bothers me about the MCU. I’m back to square one, wishing for stories, not gimmicks. Trading in the glossy hologram covers for CGI. And why I will always respect Nolan and Raimi’s Batman and Spider-Man trilogies more.pic.twitter.com/LmeAl86Y9z

Replying to @GenePark @FilmCritHULK
If these movies were all getting RT averages in the sub-70s, I'd agree with you. But as long as the stories are well done, the acting is solid, and the production values are high, it's very sustainable

Those cross-over events were often pretty good, too. It's all about hidden costs and overall meaning.
