Infinity War piece written and going sometime this week... pretty sure I'm just gonna make both sides feel bad? Which really is probably a good thing this point.

It's not even that it's a dumb philosophy, it's that there's no psychology around it to even make us believe that he believes it.

Dear Lord thank you. Ive been saying this ever since i saw the movie. Thanos execution/actin is great, but his motives makes absolutely no sense at all. There's no reason at all for him to be THAT ATTACHED to that philosophy. Comparing him to Killmonger is a crime.

Would you all have preferred his motive from the comics?

I would prefer a motive that went with a personality that added up to a coherent psychology, which had a thematic point. Whatever it was. This was all nice affectation, no overall coherence.

A what if scenario: what if Thanos's strategy was to demand that Earth's leaders hand him Vision/Mind Stone AND half our population or he'll kill every last human - & govs around the world agreed and actually collaborated with him in attack on Wakanda/against Cap & company?

Then a combination of fear, the opportunity for govs to get rid of certain "undesirable" groups as sacrifices to Thanos, and perhaps a dash of actual proof that the Accords eroded liberty enough for them to go this step further, would provide some timely weight to all this

It only works with the not random-ness. Kingsmen already blew the lid off this. The "fair population balance" is just an excuse for the rich to not only self-preserve, but be ridiculous.
