Dude, this guy is one of the most accomplished and intelligent critics in the world. Where do you get off? I enjoyed the movie, but there isn’t a thing written here that I take issue with and isn’t well-reasoned and eloquently articulated.

Yeah, seconded. Saying what Brody wrote is "stupid," is just exhibiting the same exact quality of blind dismissal that you're accusing the piece of doing... Not to get reflexive, but come on with that.

I personally believe that the comment in the tweet is stupid. I’m not saying the review is stupid or the publication is stupid or the writer is stupid.

His main argument hinges on the idea that this movie is faulty because it assumes the audience is familiar with the thematic developments shown in other films. This is like contending that Perelandra suffers because it expects the reader to have read Out Of The Silent Planet.

I dont mind criticizing the film. But basing your analysis on the idea that films should remain context-less is "fucking stupid", as Peter so eloquently said. To write about a film as if you are oblivious to the storytelling that has happened for 10 years prior is puzzling.

I'm a bit confused. Are you referencing his piece, or a piece you will be publishing soon? Also, are you saying that it shouldnt be puzzling or that Brody's framing of his argument isnt "fucking stupid"?

Im writing a piece. I gotta stop arguing about it on twitter.

It's all good, Hulk. I look forward to reading your piece. I've been a huge fan of your work for many years. But it just felt weird that Peter's (I think very valid but ungraceful) tweet was derided so, considering the weirdly ignorant piece he was commenting on.
